Robert Bosch, a German technology and services company, has agreed to a $36 million settlement with U.S. authorities. This resolution stems from the export of over $70 million in sensor products and software to Huawei. The transactions, which took place between 2024 and 2026, involved two non-U.S. Bosch subsidiaries. These exports occurred on more than 100 occasions without the necessary license. Huawei is currently subject to a U.S. trade blacklist that mandates licenses for certain foreign-produced items derived from U.S. technology.
Bosch characterized these violations as unintentional and has stated it is enhancing its trade compliance program. The U.S. Justice Department has declined to prosecute the company, citing its prompt self-disclosure and full assistance in the investigation. As part of the settlement, Bosch will disgorge profits from the involved transactions. The company will receive credit in the $36 million Commerce Department settlement for this Justice Department payment.
