On October 18th, 2025, Bollywood actress and entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty inaugurated a new outlet of her restaurant chain Bastian in Goa. This expansion comes amidst an ongoing Rs. 60 crores fraud case against Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra.
In a video message, Shetty reassured her patrons that Bastian is not shutting down, but instead undergoing a transformation. The iconic Bandra Bastian restaurant will be reimagined as a South Indian restaurant called Ammakai, while the Bastian brand will relocate to Juhu under the name Bastian Beach Club.
Despite the legal challenges, Shetty remains committed to growing her hospitality business. The new Goa venue is part of this strategy, with Shetty performing a traditional puja to mark the occasion. Dressed in a white printed salwar-kameez, she was seen conducting a "yagna" as part of the ritual.

The fraud case against Shetty and Kundra, filed by a businessman named Deepak Kothari, alleges that they diverted Rs. 60 crores invested in their company Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd for personal use. Although the company is now closed, the case is ongoing in the Bombay High Court.
Amid these legal troubles, Shetty's decision to expand her Bastian brand underscores her determination to maintain a strong business presence in the hospitality sector. The new Goa outlet and the upcoming changes to the Bandra and Juhu locations signal Shetty's commitment to evolving and diversifying her culinary offerings, even as she navigates the ongoing fraud case.
