Connectivity between the North and South banks of the Brahmaputra in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has dramatically improved with the Bogibeel bridge, opened over seven years ago. This 4.94 km road-cum-rail bridge, located near Dibrugarh, was built at an estimated cost of ₹4,857 crore. Originally sanctioned in 1997-98, its foundation stone was laid in January 1997, with work commencing in April 2002. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the bridge on December 25, 2018.
