BMW Group Belux has finalized a landmark agreement with logistics company Katoen Natie for 1,000 electric vehicles, establishing the largest single EV order ever awarded to an automaker in Belgium. This deal is central to Katoen Natie's ambitious plan to fully electrify its Antwerp-based fleet by the conclusion of 2027.
The logistics provider anticipates this fleet overhaul will eliminate 3,350 tons of CO2 emissions each year and reduce annual fuel consumption by 800,000 liters. To support this transition, Katoen Natie is also investing in nationwide charging infrastructure and renewable energy sources.
The order includes popular models like the BMW iX1 and electric MINI Countryman, alongside the iX3 SUV. Critically, the contract also secures fleet placements for the forthcoming i3 Neue Klasse, signaling BMW's confidence in its next-generation EV architecture for commercial use.
