Summary
- BMW India achieved 17% year-on-year growth in Q1 2026.
- Electric vehicles now constitute 26% of BMW India's sales.
- Long-wheelbase models and expanded network fuel city growth.

BMW India has kicked off 2026 with significant momentum, achieving a 17% year-on-year sales increase in the first quarter and selling over 4,600 units. This strong performance is bolstered by a substantial rise in the adoption of electric vehicles, which now account for 26% of the brand's portfolio, an increase from 21% in the previous year. This surge in EV sales is driven by increasing fuel costs and improved vehicle availability.
The company's strategic focus on long-wheelbase models, offering enhanced rear-seat space, has resonated well with customers. Furthermore, an expanded dealership network, now present in 40 cities with 97 touchpoints, has successfully penetrated tier-2 and tier-3 markets, bringing BMW closer to a wider customer base.
Looking ahead, BMW India has outlined an ambitious product offensive for 2026, with plans for 27 new launches, including six all-new models. The company has already introduced four products in the first quarter and aims to launch six more in the second quarter, with the remainder scheduled for the latter half of the year. BMW India anticipates maintaining strong double-digit growth throughout 2026, with no immediate supply disruptions expected due to advance planning.
