28 Aug
Summary
- BitGo acquired NYDIG's institutional trading business.
- The deal adds derivatives, financing, and structured products to BitGo.
- Approximately 250 institutional client relationships join BitGo.

BitGo Holdings has completed the acquisition of NYDIG's institutional trading business, enhancing its comprehensive digital asset services. This transaction strategically integrates derivatives, financing, and structured products into BitGo's established platform, which already encompasses custody, settlement, and digital asset infrastructure.
The acquisition brings approximately 30 NYDIG employees and roughly 250 institutional client relationships to BitGo. This move is designed to offer asset managers, hedge funds, and other sophisticated investors a wider range of financial products, connecting trading and risk management with BitGo's regulated custody and settlement capabilities.
BitGo CEO Mike Belshe stated that institutions desire a partner capable of supporting the full lifecycle of digital assets. This acquisition, announced in late 2026, aligns with BitGo's strategy to consolidate client assets and activity within its platform.
Meanwhile, NYDIG will now focus its resources on its infrastructure strategy, concentrating on power generation, bitcoin mining, and high-performance computing data centers. The company's development pipeline exceeds 3 gigawatts, with significant portions expected to be deliverable in 2027 and 2028.
BitGo, which went public earlier in 2026, raised approximately $213 million in its initial public offering. This acquisition further solidifies its position in the institutional capital markets as firms compete to offer bundled services under regulated platforms for major financial clients.
