Bitcoin to Hit $250K by 2027: Expert Prediction
22 Dec
Summary
- Bitcoin may reach $250,000 by the end of 2027.
- Expert cites institutional adoption and monetary policy shifts.
- Volatility profile is shifting, moving towards macro asset trends.

Alex Thorn, Head of Firmwide Research at Galaxy Digital, has projected that Bitcoin (BTC) could achieve a price of $250,000 by the close of 2027. This forecast suggests a substantial potential increase from its current trading value, supported by the ongoing maturation of the cryptocurrency and increasing institutional interest.
Thorn attributes this optimistic outlook to several factors, including expanding institutional access, anticipated shifts towards more accommodative monetary policies, and a growing demand for assets that serve as a hedge against currency debasement. He anticipates Bitcoin may soon function similarly to gold in its role as a monetary hedge.
Despite a long-term bullish stance, Thorn acknowledges the inherent unpredictability of the near future, citing macroeconomic ambiguities and political events as reasons for uncertainty in 2026. He notes a trend of decreasing long-term volatility in Bitcoin, evidenced by changes in its options market pricing, indicating a move towards characteristics of traditional macro assets.
