Bitcoin to $100K as Debt Fuels Crypto Rally
19 Sep
Summary
- Bitcoin is projected to reach $100,000 by next year.
- Government debt burdens are seen as a major driver for Bitcoin's rise.
- Institutional clients, including sovereign wealth funds, are actively buying.
VanEck's head of digital assets research, Matthew Sigel, predicts Bitcoin will reach $100,000 by 2026, attributing the cryptocurrency's strength to increasing global government debt. Sigel noted that Bitcoin's volatility has decreased significantly compared to previous cycles.
Despite a challenging week that included interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan, and the rejection of the Clarity Act in the Senate, Bitcoin maintained its value. Sigel highlighted that the Treasury bond buyback program contributed to short covering, signaling favorable conditions for Bitcoin bulls.
Sigel also indicated that institutional clients, including advisors and sovereign wealth funds, are actively purchasing Bitcoin. He previously forecast a $500,000 price for Bitcoin by 2029 and a long-term target of $1 million within several years.
