Major Rail Disruption Hits Birmingham This Weekend

Rail passengers are bracing for significant disruption this weekend due to scheduled engineering work impacting services in and around Birmingham.
All lines between Birmingham New Street and Sandwell and Dudley will be closed on both Saturday and Sunday. This closure will lead to diversions, retimed services, and outright cancellations across various routes.
Several train operators have announced adjustments. Avanti West Coast trains between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton will be diverted via Bescot Stadium, with potential cancellations on services to Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly. CrossCountry trains will not call at Wolverhampton, but passengers can use alternative services between Birmingham New Street and Stafford. London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway will run amended timetables for services to Liverpool Lime Street, with reduced frequency and no stops at Smethwick Galton Bridge or Coseley. Their Walsall to Wolverhampton services will terminate at Birmingham New Street, and Birmingham New Street to Shrewsbury services will only run between Tipton and Shrewsbury, with an additional stop at Coseley.
Transport for Wales has confirmed that no services will operate between Birmingham International, Birmingham New Street, and Wolverhampton. However, passengers can utilize West Midlands Railway rail replacement buses between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton at no extra cost. Rail replacement bus services have also been established between Birmingham New Street and Tipton, and between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton.
