Starting May 2027, passengers will benefit from a new hourly direct train service connecting Birmingham to Manchester Airport. This significant improvement by London Northwestern Railway (LNR) will streamline travel for those heading abroad.
Currently, travelers must change trains at Crewe, Wilmslow, or in Manchester city center. The new service, operating from Birmingham New Street, will pass through the Black Country, Staffordshire, and Cheshire.
This direct route is the second phase of service enhancements. The first phase, beginning December 13, will introduce services between Birmingham and Crewe, stopping at 12 stations. Mayor Richard Parker highlighted the route's benefit for sustainable travel and improved regional connectivity.
