Summary
- Bharat Taxi launches as a cooperative, driver-owned platform.
- Fares are up to 30% cheaper than Ola and Uber.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates the service today.

On February 5, 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to formally launch Bharat Taxi, a new cooperative-based ride-hailing application in Delhi. This service aims to provide a more affordable alternative to established platforms like Ola and Uber.
The app operates under a unique cooperative model where drivers are owners, not commission-based partners. Each driver will hold shares in the cooperative, eliminating per-ride commissions. Instead, drivers will pay a fixed daily fee of Rs 30 for app usage. This model is expected to result in fares up to 30% cheaper for passengers compared to existing ride-hailing services.
Bharat Taxi is supported by prominent cooperative institutions including IFFCO, Amul, and NCDC. During its soft launch in December 2025 across Delhi and Gujarat, the app recorded an average of 5,500 daily rides. The platform is now available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with an expected 2.5 lakh vehicles to join in the Delhi-NCR region.
