BET+ Streaming Service Merges with Paramount+
13 Mar
Summary
- BET+ programming will migrate to Paramount+ in June.
- Paramount Skydance acquired Tyler Perry Studios' equity stake.
- Over a thousand hours of BET+ content will be available.

Beginning in June, the BET+ streaming service will cease to exist as an independent platform, with its content migrating to Paramount+. This strategic decision was announced following Paramount Skydance's buyout of Tyler Perry Studios' equity stake in BET+.
BET Networks president Louis Carr communicated in a staff memo that this integration is intended to amplify the reach of Black stories and creators. Approximately a thousand hours of BET+ programming, featuring popular shows like 'The Ms. Pat Show' and 'Diarra From Detroit,' will become accessible on Paramount+.
The acquisition of Tyler Perry Studios' stake was not disclosed in terms of financial value but is anticipated to be significant. Perry will maintain a relationship with BET through an extensive content partnership, and BET will continue operating FAST channels dedicated to his series.
This move aligns with Paramount CEO David Ellison's objective to consolidate the company's streaming offerings under a single, scaled-up platform, Paramount+. While smaller in scope than potential mergers with other major entities, it represents a step toward this consolidation strategy.
