The consequences for residents and commuters are severe. The road is riddled with potholes, exacerbated by recent rains that have also caused significant waterlogging due to incomplete drain works. Footpaths have disappeared, forcing pedestrians to navigate the busy carriageway alongside vehicular traffic, including BMTC buses. The stretch is lined with numerous apartment complexes and educational institutions, affecting thousands daily.
Citizens have voiced their frustration, with one highlighting the issue in a social media appeal to the Bengaluru development minister. Officials have acknowledged the problem, with the Bengaluru South City Corporation (BSCC) formally requesting BSMILE to expedite the white-topping and undertake interim repairs. BSMILE has committed to temporary measures, including drain desilting, culvert construction, and patchwork, which are expected to be completed within a month, pending traffic police approval.
