- The roads in Rudrappa Layout have been neglected for years.
- A video of the protest gained significant online attention.

A Bengaluru resident has resorted to an unusual method to highlight the dire state of roads in Rudrappa Layout, a locality off Andrahalli Main Road. Engineer Dhananjaya Bhandarkar recently posted a video on social media depicting him running on the poorly maintained, dusty, and uneven 1.5km stretch of road. This unconventional protest has garnered significant attention online, with the video receiving thousands of views within days.
The residents of Rudrappa Layout, established a decade ago, have been struggling with inadequate road infrastructure for years. Despite houses being built over the past six to seven years, the roads remained in poor condition. Residents were initially told that asphalting would commence after the completion of Cauvery drinking water pipeline works, a project finished a year ago, yet the roads remain unaddressed.
Bhandarkar, who is also an entrepreneur, expressed his frustration after a conventional complaint through the Greater Bengaluru Authority's online portal yielded no response. He stated that his goal is to ensure the roads are finally asphalted, noting that residents deserve basic infrastructure. He plans to continue his unique form of activism, with a promise of a future protest involving a handstand on the same roads.
