Beehiiv's Bold Revenue Leap: $50M Goal
21 Jan
Summary
- Beehiiv projects revenue to reach $50 million this year.
- The platform offers a flat-fee structure and ad network.
- Nearly 15,000 paying subscribers use beehiiv for newsletters.

Beehiiv, a four-year-old newsletter startup, anticipates nearly doubling its annual revenue to $50 million this year, intensifying its competition with larger competitor Substack for a share of the expanding creator economy. The company's growth is attributed to its flat-fee structure and an innovative ad network, offering an alternative to Substack's revenue-sharing model.
Currently, beehiiv boasts over 40,000 monthly active users, with nearly 15,000 on paid subscriptions. Notably, approximately one in seven new writers joining the platform are migrating from Substack. This surge in adoption is fueled by widespread media layoffs, driving journalists towards platforms that enable direct audience engagement.
Founded with backing from New Enterprise Associates and Lightspeed Venture Partners, beehiiv has secured approximately $49.7 million in funding and was last valued at $225 million. CEO Tyler Denk stated that the company has over two and a half years of financial runway, with profitability expected around 2027.
