Hundreds of striking employees at Bath Iron Works have successfully ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement, concluding a weeklong work stoppage. The decision by members of the Bath Marine Draftsmen´s Association came after an extensive union meeting.
The agreement, which is effective immediately, addresses the terms of employment for workers who serve as designers, technicians, and associate engineers. The Bath Marine Draftsmen´s Association is affiliated with the UAW.
Bath Iron Works, recognized for its slogan "Bath built is best built," is a crucial shipbuilding contractor for the U.S. Navy. The company was awarded a significant contract in 2023 to construct Arleigh Burke-class destroyers, vital assets described as the "backbone of the Navy´s surface fleet."
