North Central Railway is undertaking a significant upgrade of Bateshwar halt station, located on the Bhandai-Udimor rail section within the Agra division. The station, currently classified as 'D' category, will be elevated to a 'B' category intermediate station. This ambitious project, with an estimated cost of Rs 33.45 crore, received sanction during the 2025-26 financial year and is slated for completion by November 2026.
The upgrade is designed to substantially improve train crossing and overtaking facilities along this crucial rail corridor, which will, in turn, boost overall operational capacity. Bateshwar station will feature two 750-meter loop lines, a high-level platform, a new station building, and an electronic interlocking building. Advanced modern signaling and electronic interlocking systems will be implemented, alongside modifications to the overhead equipment.
Passenger amenities are also a key focus, with the project encompassing the development of the circulating area, a water tank, a borewell with a pump house, and dedicated facilities for persons with disabilities. Enhancing rail access to Bateshwar, a renowned religious and tourist destination known for its ancient Shiva temples and the Bateshwar cattle fair, is another significant benefit. The station's upgrade also acknowledges its historical connection to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's ancestral roots.
