On November 14, 2025, Italian company BasicNet announced that it has acquired the iconic American outdoor brand Woolrich from L-Gam, a Luxembourg-based investment fund. Woolrich, founded in 1830 by John Rich in Pennsylvania, is one of the oldest American producers of wool fabrics and outdoor clothing.
The acquisition is part of BasicNet's long-term vision to preserve and enhance culturally significant heritage brands. BasicNet, the owner of popular brands like Kappa, Superga, and K-Way, believes that Woolrich's unique identity and history make it a perfect fit for their portfolio.
According to the co-CEOs of BasicNet, Lorenzo and Alessandro Boglione, the acquisition will allow them to return the Woolrich brand to growth and strengthen its international presence. The transaction involves the acquisition of the Woolrich brand rights for Europe and 100% of Woolrich Europe SpA, the company managing its distribution and retail activities.
Woolrich's CEO, Lorenzo Flamini, stated that the deal marks a new phase in the brand's history, aimed at enhancing its nearly 200-year-old legacy and reinterpreting its iconic elements in a contemporary way. With BasicNet's support, Woolrich is poised to continue its global expansion and solidify its leadership in the outdoor lifestyle segment.
