Summary
- Bus shelter removed overnight on December 16, 2025, causing significant disruption.
- BEST officials cited building redevelopment as the reason for temporary removal.
- Commuters and former corporator voiced strong dissatisfaction with the lack of notice.

The sudden, overnight removal of the Perry Cross Road bus shelter in Bandra West on December 16, 2025, has incensed local residents and daily commuters. For approximately one and a half months, a diverse group including schoolchildren, college students, senior citizens, and office-goers were forced to wait for buses on an exposed footpath, sometimes spilling onto the road during peak hours.
Former Congress corporator Asif Zakaria formally lodged a complaint with BEST on January 22, 2026, on behalf of citizens. He highlighted that the abrupt dismantling, conducted without prior notice or alternative arrangements, inconvenienced regular users and resulted in a loss of advertising revenue for BEST. Concerns were echoed by Bandra corporator Karen D'Mello, who noted the shelter served key routes like 51, 56, and 220.
