Backyard Dog Treat Biz Grows into 11-Location Honesty Box Empire

In May 2025, a couple in Hull, UK launched a small honesty box for dog treats outside their home. Just six months later, their business, Bonnie Pooch, has expanded to 11 locations across the region.

Stuart and Danielle Bentham, who own two beagles named Penny and Bonnie, started the venture as a simple idea to share dog treats and gifts with their community. However, the concept quickly took off, forcing them to upgrade to a larger cabinet to keep up with demand.

Bonnie Pooch now operates honesty boxes stocked with premium treats like rabbit ears, buffalo horns, and camel skin, as well as accessories such as snuffle mats and lick mats. The couple also offers a variety of all-natural dog biscuits. Their products can be found in pubs, cafes, farm shops, and even at Normanby Hall.

"It has been an absolutely incredible journey for us," said Stuart. "People have been responding really amazingly, and it has grown so quickly we've had to get a bigger cabinet just to keep up."

The Benthams have also started attending local events, allowing them to connect with customers face-to-face. Some people even claim to have "come miles" just to visit the honesty box.
