Azerbaijan tourism eyes 15% growth from India in 2026
7 Feb
Summary
- Indian tourist arrivals in Azerbaijan dropped 30% in 2025.
- Solo and independent travelers to Azerbaijan increased in 2025.
- Azerbaijan expects 10-15% growth in Indian tourist arrivals in 2026.

Azerbaijan saw a significant 30% decrease in Indian tourist arrivals in 2025, with visitor numbers falling to about 170,000 from 240,000 the previous year. This decline was attributed to global geopolitical events that disrupted air connectivity and rerouted flights.
During 2025, a shift occurred in traveler segments, with an increase in Free Independent Travellers (FIT) and solo visitors, while the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector saw a downturn.
For 2026, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board is optimistic, projecting a 10-15% growth in tourist arrivals from India. This growth is expected to be driven by a resurgence in MICE bookings and a rising interest in destination weddings.
