Summary
- Avantium and Logoplaste sign capacity reservation deal for plant-based Releaf polymer
- Releaf offers circular and high-barrier performance for packaging applications
- Collaboration aims to accelerate development of advanced, sustainable packaging solutions

On November 11, 2025, Dutch renewable and circular polymer materials company Avantium announced that it has entered a capacity reservation agreement with packaging company Logoplaste for its plant-based and recyclable polymer, polyethylene furanoate (PEF), marketed under the brand name Releaf.
Releaf, derived from plant-based sugars through Avantium's proprietary YXY technology, offers circular and high-barrier performance properties suitable for a range of packaging applications. The new agreement allows Logoplaste to secure future volumes of Releaf from licensed production facilities utilizing this technology.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen Logoplaste's development of Releaf-based packaging and address increasing market demand following successful product validation. Logoplaste's chief technology officer Paulo Correia stated that the agreement reflects their shared commitment to driving innovation in sustainable packaging, enabling the acceleration of advanced solutions with outstanding barrier properties to support customers' circularity and performance goals.
Both Avantium and Logoplaste are already part of the Bottle Collective, a consortium working on recyclable fiber-based bottles. The latest agreement extends their partnership beyond this initiative, focusing on applications across Logoplaste's core sectors, including beverages, food, pharmaceuticals, home care, and personal care.
