Avalo, an agricultural biotechnology company, has partnered with Advance Denim to introduce its low-impact cotton to the denim markets of China, Vietnam, and Cambodia. This multi-year agreement grants Advance Denim exclusive access to Avalo's high-quality, dryland cotton as production scales.
The cotton is cultivated under the US Cotton Trust Protocol's regenerative program and is traceable via Textile Genesis, providing brands with essential data for sustainability claims. Avalo employs AI-powered computational breeding to develop climate-resistant crops, focusing on reducing CO2 emissions during cultivation.
In Texas, Avalo collaborated with 10 farmers to cultivate rain-fed cotton, requiring less fertilizer and pesticides. This program yielded 351 metric tons of cotton from 2,030 dryland acres in 2025. Independent assessments confirmed a 100% reduction in water use and a 75% reduction in fertilizer use compared to conventional cotton.
Further enhancing its sustainable initiatives, Avalo recently began developing a circular knit collection with Laguna Fabrics and CreateMe. This partnership with Advance Denim positions Avalo to significantly influence cotton consumption within the apparel industry.
