Auto Sales Surge: January Sees Record Growth

Automakers kicked off the new year with robust passenger vehicle sales in January 2026. Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra reported substantial year-on-year growth of 46% and 25% respectively. Mahindra's SUV sales reached 63,510 units, with a record-breaking booking milestone for new models.
Hyundai Motor India achieved its highest-ever monthly sales, selling 59,107 units, a 9.5% increase. This success comes as Indian management takes the helm. Toyota Kirloskar Motor also saw a positive start, with sales up 17% to 30,630 units.
The two-wheeler market also demonstrated strong demand. TVS Motor Company's sales grew by 30% to 383,262 units, and Royal Enfield saw a 16% expansion in volumes, marking four consecutive months of double-digit growth.
Commercial vehicle sales also saw increases, with Tata Motors reporting a 29.15% rise. In the farm equipment sector, Mahindra sold 38,484 tractors in January 2026, a 46% increase, supported by strong Rabi sowing conditions.
