Summary
- Atari Hotel to replace historic radio building in Phoenix.
- Demolition permit pending for 1957-built structure.
- Hotel will feature 91 rooms, themed dining, and gaming spaces.

A landmark radio station building in Phoenix, constructed in 1957, is targeted for demolition to accommodate the development of the world's first Atari Hotel. Developers have submitted a permit application to the city for the demolition of the building located at 840 North Central Avenue in the Roosevelt Row Arts District.
The proposed $125 million Atari Hotel will occupy 46,000 square feet of land acquired by the developer in December 2023. Construction is anticipated to commence by late 2026, with an opening projected for late 2028. The hotel is designed with 91 rooms, including 19 suites, a deliberate nod to 1972, the year Atari was founded.
Plans for the hotel include two floors of themed dining, bars, and immersive experiences inspired by Atari's games. Additionally, there will be a sports and gaming lounge, gift shops, and a multipurpose venue for gaming events and concerts. Demolition is expected to begin later this summer, pending permit approval.
