Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has inaugurated a new Star Cement Ltd. manufacturing unit in Cachar district. This significant private-sector investment, totaling over Rs 400 crore, is set to bolster cement availability in southern Assam and adjacent states.
The facility boasts an installed grinding capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum and is anticipated to create more than 1,000 jobs. This development reflects increasing investor confidence in Assam's industrial growth and supports the state's commitment to balanced regional development.
The plant's strategic location in Hilara will cater to infrastructure and housing demands in Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur. By reducing reliance on distant supply hubs, it aims to lower logistics costs and expedite project timelines.
Star Cement highlighted that the expansion was facilitated by the State Government's supportive industry policies and stable governance. The company expressed its long-term commitment to the region, emphasizing the unit's role in enhancing infrastructure and local enterprise.
