Summary
- iPhone shipments hit 14 million in India for 2025.
- Apple's market share in India reached a record 9% in 2025.
- Premium smartphone segment in India grew 15% in 2025.

In 2025, Apple's iPhone experienced unprecedented growth in India, with shipments reaching approximately 14 million units. This performance propelled Apple's market share to a record 9%, a notable increase from 7% in 2024. The gains were attributed to a strong product portfolio, rising consumer aspiration, and expanded distribution channels.
This success unfolded against a backdrop of a largely stagnant Indian smartphone market, which remained flat at around 152-153 million units for the year. Despite this overall market trend, the premium segment, encompassing smartphones above ₹30,000, expanded by 15% in 2025, reaching a record 23% of total shipments.
Apple has actively broadened its presence in India through increased local manufacturing and retail expansion, opening its fifth store in Noida. The company also introduced Apple Creator Studio at a significantly reduced price in India, demonstrating a strategy to deepen its user base.
Despite Apple's record year, it remained outside the top three smartphone vendors by shipment volume, with Vivo, Samsung, and Xiaomi leading the market. Projections for 2026 indicate a potential 2% slip in the overall market, though average selling prices are expected to rise, signaling continued premiumization.
