Andhra Pradesh is set to become a major hub for solar energy manufacturing with the upcoming facility of ReNew in Anakapalli district, near Visakhapatnam. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for this significant project on April 23. This initiative aligns with India's ambitious goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The new facility will be a 6 GW solar ingot and wafer manufacturing unit, marking an investment of approximately ₹5,400 crore. This development is crucial for establishing a robust domestic solar supply chain and strengthening India's energy security by decreasing dependence on imported components.
This project is a key component of ReNew's broader commitment to invest ₹82,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh. The company anticipates the facility will be operational within 24 months, creating more than 2,100 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region and fostering industrial growth.
