Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K Vijayanand has called for the swift acceleration of loss reduction projects within the state's power distribution companies (DISCOMs). These efforts are part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and are deemed critical for enhancing the financial stability of the utilities.
The southern state is placing significant emphasis on the successful implementation of RDSS. The primary objectives are to ensure the financial viability of DISCOMs, substantially reduce aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses, and guarantee a reliable power supply to all categories of consumers across Andhra Pradesh.
Key strategies being deployed include feeder segregation, conductor replacement, feeder bifurcation, and the integration of modern distribution infrastructure. The Chief Secretary also instructed DISCOM officials to proactively address issues related to billing and claims processing, emphasizing the importance of regular reviews at various administrative levels to ensure effective project execution and quality control.
