Expired Water & Fly-Contaminated Sweets Ruin Engagement Party
28 Aug
Summary
- Amusement park served expired water and fly-infested sweets.
- Guests, including bride, suffered acute gastroenteritis and hospitalization.
- Consumer commission ordered Rs 6.5 lakh compensation for negligence.

A significant lapse in service occurred at a public function when an amusement park, Fun N Food Village, served expired packaged water and sweets contaminated with flies. This act of negligence endangered the health and lives of guests, including children and the bride.
As a result, many attendees developed acute gastroenteritis and required immediate hospitalization. The consumer commission highlighted the severe mental anguish and humiliation the complainant endured during his daughter's engagement ceremony due to the venue's irresponsibility.
The commission directed Fun N Food Village and its management to pay a total compensation of approximately Rs 6.50 lakh. This includes Rs 4.75 lakh with interest and Rs 25,000 in costs. The establishment received a strict warning against future violations.
The legal action stemmed from a booking made in 2021 for an engagement ceremony. The park's failure to provide timely drinking water and the discovery of expired water bottles and contaminated sweets led to the complaint.
