Amgen Beats Sales Estimates, Boosted by Cholesterol Drug
5 Aug
Summary
- Amgen's Q2 sales climbed 9% due to strong Repatha and Evenity demand.
- Company raised its full-year forecast for earnings and revenue.
- Development continues for obesity drug MariTide; another candidate halted.

In the second quarter of 2026, Amgen experienced a significant sales increase of 9%, largely attributed to robust demand for its cholesterol medication Repatha and bone treatment Evenity. The company's financial performance surpassed expectations, with quarterly revenue reaching $10.1 billion.
Amgen has revised its full-year projections upwards, now anticipating adjusted earnings between $22.30 and $23.50 per share and revenue of $38.2 billion to $39.4 billion. This optimism stems from the strong growth of its six primary products, which accounted for nearly 70% of second-quarter product sales.
Notable growth was observed in Repatha sales, which surged by 37% to $953 million, and Evenity sales, up 38% to $714 million. However, sales of the older bone drug Prolia saw a 32% decline due to increased competition following patent expirations.
The company is advancing its development of MariTide, an experimental obesity drug, with initial Phase 3 trial results expected next year. Concurrently, Amgen has ceased development of another obesity candidate, AMG 513, which was in early-stage testing. Amgen is also addressing regulatory concerns regarding its rare disease drug Tavneos.
