- The store would be larger than a typical Walmart Supercenter.
- Orland Park's plan commission has approved the Amazon proposal.

Amazon has submitted plans for a substantial retail store in Orland Park, Illinois, with a proposed size of 229,000 square feet. This new concept store would surpass the average size of a Walmart Supercenter and is designed to offer groceries, household essentials, and general merchandise. The facility also includes a "limited warehouse component" to support on-site operations and order pickups for delivery drivers.
The tech giant is expanding its physical retail footprint, having previously acquired Whole Foods Market and experimented with various store formats like bookstores and convenience marts. While many of these ventures have seen reduced rollouts or closures, Amazon continues to test new physical retail experiences. The Orland Park plan commission gave its approval to Amazon's proposal on Tuesday, with a final vote by the village board expected on January 19.
This proposed store would replace the former Petey's II restaurant location. Situated near major highways and other national retailers like Target, Costco, and Trader Joe's, the development has raised concerns among some residents regarding potential traffic impacts in the surrounding area.
