19 Feb
Summary
- Airbus and Tata will produce 10 H125 helicopters yearly by 2029.
- New Karnataka facility will also export helicopters to South Asia.
- The first helicopter is slated for delivery in early 2027.

Airbus, in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems, has established India's inaugural private sector helicopter Final Assembly Line (FAL) for the H125 model in Vemagal, Karnataka. This significant industrial milestone was virtually inaugurated on February 17 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron.
The ambitious plan is to achieve an annual production rate of 10 H125 helicopters by 2029. The first aircraft from this new facility is anticipated to be delivered in early 2027. Beyond serving the domestic market, the production line is intended to support exports to the South Asia region.
This venture signifies a major step in developing India's civil helicopter market. Airbus emphasizes the H125's versatility for nation-building and public services, including regional connectivity and disaster management. The company also indicated potential production of the military variant, H125M, at the same facility.
Airbus has a substantial presence in India, sourcing over USD 1.5 billion in components and services annually. This collaboration builds on existing efforts, such as their joint FAL for C295 military transport aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat.
