30 Jul
Summary
- Airbus paid over £6.4 million to UK authorities.
- The settlement resolves a two-year investigation into export control violations.
- Issues involved anomalies in cross-border transfer of A400M parts.

Airbus has settled a two-year investigation into export control violations by paying over £6.4 million to UK revenue and customs authorities. The European planemaker announced this settlement earlier this month, which fully resolves the matter, as detailed in its quarterly earnings report. The probe, which began in 2024, focused on anomalies related to the cross-border transfer of parts for the A400M military airlifter. These issues first came to light during an audit in 2022. Airbus confirmed it voluntarily disclosed these issues and has cooperated extensively with the review. The company also stated that comprehensive remediation measures have long since been implemented. This follows a previous settlement in 2020 where Airbus paid $10 million to resolve findings by the U.S. State Department concerning violations of export controls known as ITAR.
