Air India Readies for Fog Season with New Measures
9 Dec
Summary
- Measures cover crew, aircraft, airports, scheduling, and passenger communication.
- CAT III B-certified aircraft and trained crew will be deployed strategically.
- Passengers affected by delays can get refunds or reschedule for free.

As the dense fog season approaches, Air India has activated a robust operational and customer support plan aimed at minimizing flight delays across its network. The airline's strategy encompasses preparedness across crew, aircraft, airport operations, scheduling, and passenger communication.
Preparedness includes ensuring a sufficient pool of cockpit crew trained for Low Visibility Operations and deploying CAT III B-certified aircraft at strategic, fog-prone locations. Airport teams are being reinforced with ground staff, refreshments, and proactive passenger rebooking, while flight schedules are being optimized for fewer disruptions, particularly on long-haul and metro routes.
The airline's Integrated Operations Control Centre will monitor flights round the clock, utilizing real-time meteorological data for advance schedule adjustments. Passengers will receive proactive communication via SMS, WhatsApp, and email, with real-time updates available online. Air India's Fog Care initiative allows affected passengers complimentary rescheduling or a full refund without penalty.
