Air India's A319s Fly On As Spares

Air India has withdrawn its Airbus A319 aircraft from commercial service but will continue to use them as operational spares. The airline currently has six of these narrowbodies, most of which are still flyable and will support fleet requirements for a few more months until their sale is finalized. This decision is a step in Air India's ongoing fleet modernization, which involves phasing out older aircraft in favor of newer models.

The A319s, which were introduced from 2006 and once numbered around 20, primarily served domestic routes and some short-haul international destinations. Air India has appointed UK-based Skytech-AIC to manage the disposal process for the six aircraft. These jets are being marketed without their engines and are available for immediate sale, marking a new phase in Skytech-AIC's relationship with Air India following their previous successful sale of the Boeing 747-400 fleet.
