The forthcoming Terminal 6 is slated to begin operations in phases, with initial gates opening in 2026 and full completion expected by 2028. Passengers can look forward to reduced walking distances, advanced check-in and baggage systems, and better wayfinding. The terminal will ultimately feature 10 gates, including nine suitable for widebody aircraft, and direct links to Terminal 5.

Furthermore, Air India is launching its inaugural Maharaja Lounge at JFK's Terminal 6. This expansive lounge, covering approximately 9,100 square feet, will offer passengers Air India's signature hospitality and premium amenities.
