Effective April 1, 2026, Air India is implementing significant enhancements to its Maharaja Club loyalty program, aiming to boost member value and flexibility. Based on extensive member feedback, the airline is reducing the Maharaja Points needed for award flights and cabin upgrades across most of its network. Domestic award flights will now start from 1,500 points, with upgrades beginning at 4,000 points. International redemption levels have also been standardized, with economy class fares seeing an average reduction of approximately 30% on many routes.
The airline is also making tier progression more attainable by easing flight count thresholds. Furthermore, Platinum and Gold members will be able to extend airport privileges, including lounge access, to a companion on the same booking. These changes follow the program's 2024 redesign, which shifted to a spend-based system and now boasts over 10 million members globally. Maharaja Points will be credited within two hours of flight completion.
