13 Sep
Summary
- AeroVironment's Q1 FY27 revenue reached $480.5 million, a 6% increase.
- Autonomous Systems and SCDE segments led the revenue growth.
- Full-year guidance remains strong despite SCDE segment's decline.

AeroVironment Inc. reported a record-breaking first quarter for fiscal year 2027, with revenue reaching $480.5 million. This figure represents a 6% increase compared to the same period last year, driven by growth in product and service revenues.
The Autonomous Systems (AxS) segment contributed significantly, generating $346 million, while the Space, Cyber and Directed Energy (SCDE) segment brought in $134.5 million. Gross profit saw a substantial jump of 31%, pushing the gross margin to 26% from 21% in the prior year.
Adjusted diluted earnings per share nearly doubled, rising from $0.32 to $0.59. The company's funded backlog also grew to $1.5 billion from $1.2 billion.
However, the SCDE segment experienced a 21% revenue decrease, attributed to the termination of the SCAR contract and the winding down of other government programs. This segment's revenue was $134.5 million.
Despite these challenges, AeroVironment has maintained its full-year financial guidance. The company anticipates revenues between $2.125 billion and $2.225 billion, with adjusted EBITDA projected from $305 million to $325 million. Diluted EPS is forecasted to be between $3.02 and $3.34 on an adjusted basis.
