Adani Green Powers Up Gujarat with 3.37 GWh Storage
27 May
Summary
- Adani Green's operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity is now 3.37 GWh.
- This deployment is the world's largest single-site battery storage outside China.
- Future plans include adding over 10 GWh BESS capacity by FY2027.

Adani Green Energy has announced a major expansion of its operational Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity, reaching a total of 3.37 GWh at its Khavda facility in Gujarat. This recent addition represents a significant milestone, establishing the deployment as the largest single-site battery storage facility outside of China and one of the fastest worldwide.
The 3.37 GWh BESS can store sufficient clean energy to power roughly one million homes for a full day. This capacity is equivalent to meeting the peak electricity demand of cities like Indore and Chandigarh, or powering the entire state of Goa. The company has committed to further growth, with plans to add over 10 GWh of battery storage capacity by FY2027 and a target of 50 GWh within the next five years.
Sagar Adani, Executive Director at AGEL, highlighted the critical role of large-scale energy storage in India's clean energy transition. He emphasized that as renewable energy capacity grows, storage infrastructure is essential for providing reliable, round-the-clock clean power. AGEL currently operates a renewable portfolio of 19.7 GW across 12 Indian states, making it the largest in the country.
