Summary
- Adani Energy Solutions secured a Rs 4,700 crore project in Maharashtra.
- The project supports renewable energy evacuation and pumped storage.
- The transmission network will expand by 562 circuit kilometers.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has been awarded a major transmission project in Maharashtra, valued at approximately Rs 4,700 crore. This new project is designed to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy and to support pumped storage projects with a combined capacity of up to 4,500 MW.
The 'Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara' was secured via a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process, with AESL submitting the lowest bid. The project aims to enhance power flow, specifically supporting renewable energy evacuation from Karnataka to major load centres in Maharashtra, and bolstering the pumped storage ecosystem in the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai regions.
To be completed within 36 months, the project involves establishing a 765/400 kV substation in Satara, a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Kolhapur and Satara, and augmenting the Kolhapur pooling station. Upon completion, AESL's total transmission network will reach 29,739 circuit kilometers, with a transformation capacity of 1,43,425 MVA, pushing its transmission order book to approximately Rs 85,000 crore.
AESL's CEO, Kandarp Patel, highlighted the critical role of pumped storage projects in enabling India's clean energy transition. He emphasized that this Satara transmission project will create a vital backbone for both renewable energy evacuation and energy storage deployment, strengthening power flows between Southern and Western India and supporting the nation's decarbonisation goals.
