An anonymous tip-off last month led to an investigation into the Larkfields property in Blakeney, Norfolk, revealing discrepancies between the actual construction and the approved plans.
This meant Omaze had to seek retrospective permission for various additions, including a four-bay garage, an eastern wing extension, a swimming pool, and a tennis court. The planning committee at North Norfolk District Council (NNDC) convened this week to decide whether to approve the changes.
While Blakeney Parish Council urged NNDC to reject the application, arguing that approval would send the wrong message to developers, the councillors ultimately saw things differently. Conservative councillor Angie Fitch-Tillet proposed approving the changes, as the home did not intrude on the landscape, and her colleagues concurred.

This decision will come as a huge relief for the winner, Vicky Curtis-Cresswell, from South Wales, who had been denied the keys due to the planning wrangle. Omaze, which did not construct the property, had said it would not hand over the keys until the issues were resolved.
