Indian Railways has introduced 244 special trains to accommodate the anticipated heavy passenger traffic for Christmas and New Year celebrations. These additional services are designed to alleviate overcrowding and ensure a more comfortable travel experience for millions across the nation during the peak festive period.
The special trains are distributed among eight railway zones, enhancing connectivity on popular routes. Notably, the Mumbai-Goa corridor will see increased frequency, alongside extra services connecting Mumbai to Nagpur and Pune to Sanganer, providing much-needed seating and sleeper options.
Beyond western India, travelers in the northern and eastern regions will benefit from enhanced services linking major cities like Delhi, Howrah, and Lucknow. Southern and central zones also see boosted connections between hubs such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mangaluru, making long-distance holiday journeys more manageable.
