iPhone 17 Dominates Q1 2026 Sales Charts
6 May
Summary
- iPhone 17 models were the top three sellers globally in Q1 2026.
- Samsung's budget Galaxy A series also saw strong sales.
- Rising component costs and RAM shortages are increasing phone prices.

In the first quarter of 2026, Apple's iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max claimed the top three positions in global smartphone sales. Counterpoint Research reports that the base iPhone 17 alone constituted 6% of worldwide sales.
Samsung's budget-friendly Galaxy A series also demonstrated significant market presence, with five models appearing on the top 10 list. The Galaxy A07 4G and the A17 5G secured fourth and fifth place, respectively, highlighting the demand for more affordable devices.
The smartphone market is currently contending with increased component costs, notably a RAM shortage, which is driving up prices across various brands. This inflationary pressure is expected to impact lower-cost device availability.
Looking ahead, analysts anticipate a decline in the overall phone market, with a concurrent rise in demand for higher-end and foldable smartphones. Upcoming releases, including foldable phones from Motorola and Samsung, are expected to command premium prices.
