15 May
Summary
- Petrol export duty increased to ₹3 per litre.
- Diesel export duty cut to ₹16.5 per litre from ₹23.
- Aviation fuel export duty reduced to ₹16 per litre from ₹33.

India's Ministry of Finance announced significant changes to export taxes on major fuels on Friday, May 15, 2026. The duty on petrol exports has been raised to ₹3 per litre. This marks the first imposition of such a rate since the conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran began in February, indicating a policy shift.
Concurrently, export duties on diesel and aviation turbine fuel have been decreased. The duty on diesel has been lowered from ₹23 per litre to ₹16.5 per litre. Similarly, the levy on aviation turbine fuel has been reduced from ₹33 per litre to ₹16 per litre. These adjustments align export levies with recent retail price changes.
