Twinless Stars Slam Leaked Sex Scenes as "Demoralizing"

In September 2025, actors Dylan O'Brien and James Sweeney, who co-star in the film Twinless, have condemned the leaking of sex scenes from their movie on social media. The scenes were released online months before the film's intended premiere, which Sweeney, the director and co-star, calls "really demoralizing and uncomfortable."

O'Brien, 34, expressed his frustration, saying "That sucked. I don't know, it's nice to finally have the movie out in the world -- but stop doing that. It affects us." The Twinless movie was one of two pulled from the Sundance Film Festival's streaming website earlier this year after the intimate footage appeared on various social media platforms.

Sweeney, 35, also criticized the "entitlement that people have to put things on the internet when they're not released and not ready for consumption." While he hopes the leaked scenes may have generated interest in the film, he cannot personally condone the piracy. Twinless, which follows a man struggling to cope with his twin's death, won the Sundance Audience Award in January and earned O'Brien a special jury prize for acting.
