Superman's Digital Debut Accelerated to Precede Peacemaker's Return

In a surprising move, the digital release of the recent Superman movie has been accelerated to Friday, August 15, 2025, ahead of the return of Peacemaker to HBO Max on August 22. According to director James Gunn, the early digital debut is due to changes in Peacemaker's schedule that were beyond their control.
"I originally thought Peacemaker was going to be coming out next month," Gunn said. "There was a lot of things that are beyond our control, so that Peacemaker is coming out now, and, at the end of the day, I wanted everyone to be able to see Superman that wanted to, even those people who couldn't get to a theater before Peacemaker."
The physical 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD release of Superman is still set for September 23, 2025. The digital version will include special features like a gag reel, deleted scenes, and a director's commentary from Gunn.

This accelerated digital release marks the first entry in Gunn's new DC Universe franchise, which begins with the 'Gods and Monsters' phase. The film stars David Corenswet as Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and a host of other familiar DC faces.
