2 Aug
Summary
- 'Dhadak 2' struggles to match the box office performance of 'Saiyaara' and 'Son of Sardaar 2'
- 'Son of Sardaar 2' starring Ajay Devgn earns nearly double the collections of 'Dhadak 2'
- 'Dhadak 2' is a remake of the Tamil film 'Pariyerum Perumal' and a sequel to the 2018 film 'Dhadak'

On the weekend of August 2nd, 2025, the audience was presented with a diverse array of film options. While the romantic drama 'Saiyaara' continued to captivate viewers, two new releases hit the big screen - the intense love story 'Dhadak 2' and the desi comedy 'Son of Sardaar 2.'
'Dhadak 2,' a sequel to the 2018 film 'Dhadak,' follows the narrative of Nilesh, a law student from a marginalized community, who falls in love with his upper-caste classmate Vidhi. The film, directed by Shazia Iqbal, is a remake of the Tamil movie 'Pariyerum Perumal' and has been praised for its gripping story and stellar performances by Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.
However, it appears that the audience has favored the comedy genre over the romantic drama, as 'Dhadak 2' has witnessed a slow business on Saturday, while 'Son of Sardaar 2,' headlined by Ajay Devgn, is enjoying a strong weekend surge. The multi-starrer comedy opened with a collection of Rs. 7.25 crore on Friday and has since added Rs. 1.76 crore on Saturday, bringing its total to Rs. 9.01 crore.
In contrast, 'Dhadak 2' opened with a decent Rs. 3.5 crore on Friday but has only managed to collect Rs. 1.11 crore on Saturday, taking its total to Rs. 4.61 crore. The film's performance has failed to match the box office success of 'Saiyaara' and 'Son of Sardaar 2,' indicating the audience's preference for the comedy genre over the romantic drama.
