Summary
- 'Son of Sardaar 2' received lower-than-expected advance bookings
- The film will release in 2,500-3,000 screens, facing competition from Dhadak 2
- Distributors struggled to secure 60% of total shows, with exhibitors refusing

As of August 1, 2025, the release of 'Son of Sardaar 2', the sequel to the 2012 hit comedy film, has been met with lower-than-expected advance bookings. The Ajay Devgn-led multi-starrer, which also features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Kubbra Sait, is expected to face stiff competition at the box office from the recently released 'Dhadak 2'.
According to reports, 'Son of Sardaar 2' sold around 27,000 tickets on its opening day in the top three national cinema chains, indicating a modest start. The film's distributors had been attempting to secure a hefty 60% share of total shows, but several exhibitors have refused to comply, with non-national chains willing to allocate no more than 35% of the shows to the sequel.
Despite being a follow-up to a successful film, 'Son of Sardaar 2' is expected to launch with a modest box office collection of around Rs 6.5 to Rs 7 crore. The film, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, will see Ajay Devgn reprise his role as Jaswinder "Jassi" Singh Randhawa, who travels to Scotland to reconcile with his wife and becomes embroiled in a mob battle and a violent wedding.
