Scorsese Earns First Emmy Nod for Satirical Cameo in Rogen's "The Studio"

In the pilot episode of Seth Rogen's new series "The Studio", the show pulls off a major coup by featuring a cameo from acclaimed director Martin Scorsese. Scorsese appears in an extended guest role, playing a director who is brought in to helm a "Kool-Aid" movie about the Jonestown massacre, a supposed passion project for the "Raging Bull" filmmaker. However, Scorsese ends up getting fired, much to his and other Hollywood stars' offense.

Rogen, who co-wrote and co-directed the episode, admits it was a risky move to have Scorsese poke fun at his own persona. But the director's apparent happiness with the role, and his subsequent Emmy nomination for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series, has left Rogen feeling relieved and proud.

Scorsese was far from the only celebrity cameo in "The Studio". The Apple TV+ series also featured appearances from the likes of Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Zoe Kravitz, Ron Howard, and many others, all playing spoofed versions of themselves. Rogen reveals the ambitious nature of the shoot, with multiple famous faces often appearing in a single long take.

Looking ahead, Rogen expresses a desire to collaborate with director David Fincher, who he believes would be a perfect fit for the show's satirical tone. As for Rogen himself, he remains a busy creative force, with multiple projects in the works beyond "The Studio", including the upcoming film "Good Fortune" and a reboot of the classic cartoon "Darkwing Duck".
